Professor Jules Pretty and Dr. Jo Barton of the Department of Biological Sciences of the University of Essex examined 10 previous studies involving 1250 people . The scientists discovered that activities such as walking or cycling in nature led to an almost immediate improvement in mood and self-esteem. Published in the journal “Environmental Science and Technology,” the study noted that exercising in areas containing water such as a river or lake also produced strong positive results.
